My name is Chris, and I created this site. I live in Asheville, NC, just a short drive from the Appalachian Trail. I enjoy backpacking - though work doesn't let me hit the trail as often as I want. I've been bitten by the ultralight bug recently. As a result, I spend too much time thinking about pack weight. I wanted some tools to help me plan my backpacking trips, including calculating weights automatically. But I couldn't find anything out there that did everything I needed. I'm a programmer by day, so I've been developing web applications for nearly a decade. It only made sense to develop a web site with the tools I wanted.

Right now, all the tools I want aren't done yet. I want to keep improving and expanding this site. I'm hoping you, and others who visit this site, will give me a hand with new info and ideas. Whether you're an expert backpacker, or a beginner, I want your input. Go ahead and look around, create yourself a user account, try out the tools, and let me know what you think.
